This year the Seattle Seahawks were ready to go all the way in the playoffs and only the Chicago Bears were standing in their way. The team meeting Monday at noon featured everything else than a team excited and planning for the championship game on the weekend. Cardboard boxes were packed with locker contents and the disappointment of Sunday’s season-ending loss was written in their faces. “A lot of us are still in shock,” quarterback Matt Hasselbeck stated. “We were in Chicago, trying to win a game, and we putzed around for 30 minutes, and just messed up our opportunity. It’s just kind of an abrupt end to the season, which is probably like that for everyone.”
The Seahawks lost against the Bears with 24-35, which ended not only the season but also a career with this team for many. 21 players of the 53 on the active roster are unsigned, including Hasselbeck as well as three of Seattle’s three starters on defense and five starting offensive linemen. “It’s just how it is,” he said, “I’m not stressed about anything. There’s nothing I can do about anything right now. The only X factor here is I don’t exactly know how it works.”
