It came down to the match-up of Auburn Tigers’ offense and Oregon Duck’s defense at the Tostitos BCS National Championship Game. Oregon held Auburn to 21 points but did not get more than 19. After the game, Ducks coach, Chip Kelly, stated, “the match-up with our offensive line against their defensive line was really the changing point in the football game. I will give Auburn credit. They’ve got a great front four. Nick Fairley proved he was the best defensive lineman in the country. It was a tough match-up for us.”
In Monday night’s game Auburn held Oregon to 75 yards rushing and had 11 tackles for a loss. Even though the winner of the game was never seriously doubted, the Ducks put up a good fight, adding a late touchdown to the game. In addition to closing the gap on the scoreboard, the stats sheet shows their closeness of total yards as well. Auburn gained 520 yards and the Ducks reached 455.
