The Memphis Grizzlies shut down any kind of optimism the Los Angeles Lakers had going into their game. Even though the board in their dressing room read, “Get back on track” they will have to try another time. “Our team came out and competed against one of the best teams in the NBA, and they competed well enough to get a win,” Memphis coach Lionel Hollins said. This win was the third one in a row for the defending champions the LA Lakers and was with a 98-96 a close one as well.

The Grizzlies have advanced to quite a nice record – four straight wins at home and four of five overall. Rudy Gay, who blocked the last and deciding shot to get his team the win, has high expectations for the playoffs. “The type of defensive-minded team we are here in Memphis, the sky is the limit. We all have aspirations of the playoffs. You have to play defensively every night,” he said after the game.
