The Steelers have a history of successful drafts—plenty of reasons to use those happy emoticons from SmileyCentral. This time around, lining up new receivers is the last thing on Pittsburgh’s mind. Instead, Mike Tomlin is after a center, maybe even Mike Pouncey. Drafting the younger Pouncey would reunite the brothers on their offensive line. But now fans are wondering if the deal’s off, since Pouncey tweeted that he was sure he was going to end up as a Cowboy. Is there an emoticon for extreme self-confidence? If so, someone point Pouncey toward SmileyCentral, because he needs it.
Since the Super Bowl, buzz surrounding Pouncey has died down, and ESPN has even suggested he could drop out of the top 20. Still, it seems the Steelers are keeping an eye on the former University of Florida guard. If he’s drafted, Pouncey will be a valuable center, but Tomlin has to consider whether or not he can adapt to another position. If brother Maurkice Pouncey is healthy, the team has no need for two of the same players, and a tough decision will have to be made. Stay tuned to see how the Steelers fare when draft decisions are final.
