In Sunday’s exciting game at New York’s Madison Square Garden, the Boston Celtics pushed out a strong win against the New York Knicks, 101-89, mostly thanks to Rajon Rondo. Rondo was 8-12 from the field with 21 points, and ended up with 12 assists and collected five rebounds. Teammate Kevin Garnett also proved to be an asset for the Celtics, finishing with 26 points, 10-16 shooting from the field and 6-6 shooting from the free throw line. Other Celtics who scored in the double figures were Glen Davis, at 14 points and 6-8 shooting, Ray Allen, who also scored 14 points but was 5-13, and Paul Pierce with 13 points.
As for the Knicks, only three players scored in the double digits, with Carmelo Anthony of course leading the pack. He scored an incredible 32 points and even grabbed nine rebounds, but Anthony alone couldn’t carry the team to a win. Amare Stoudemire had 19 points and 20 rebounds, and Anthony Carter followed with 11 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Despite the loss, Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni told Fox News, “It was all heart. [Stoudemire] just gave it all. With him and Carmelo going forward, the Knicks are in good shape.”
